The fate of the young man changes in between because Danglars and an aspirant for the hand of Mercédès, Fernand join hands. A conspiracy is hatched. Edmond is arrested. More complications follow. The names of Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis XVIII come up, and Edmond Dantés is cast into the dungeons of Chateau d'If, a political prison. One part of the story ends, and another begins. A new friendship is formed, ?An Escape' is dared. We now enjoy a story of courage, bravery, deceit and fraud, revenge and death.
